Before heading off to the Lansing Catholic Prom, I had the chance to photograph these beautiful juniors.  Such a fun group to be around with a great group of parents.  A night of laughter, memories, and fun was what prom night is all about and that was exactly what these young adults were all about.  So sweet!  Lansing Catholic held their prom at Eagle Eye Golf Course on a beautiful Friday evening in May.  Here are a few of my favorites from Sophie and Kennedy’s prom session:Lansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGELansing Michigan Prom PhotographyPINIMAGE

Prom photography is a favorite of mine and maybe that is because I love seniors and I love weddings so prom is kind of like a mix of both.  I have known Lizzy for many years and had the opportunity to also photograph her junior prom.  Seeing her for her senior prom was very special.  She brought a friend and we did a photo session before the prom at Cooley Gardens in Lansing, Michigan.  It was a such a beautiful day for these girls before heading to the Lansing Catholic High School prom at Eagle Eye.  We were blessed to share the garden with a wedding party running a rehearsal the night before the wedding.  I highly suggest you check out Cooley Gardens if you are looking for something different in the Lansing area that is park like and pretty.  Here are a few of my favorites from their session:

I spent the afternoon on Michigan State University’s campus photographing Claire and Robert for their engagement session.  What fun couple!  They had wanted to incorporate their cars into their engagement session and I was really looking forward to the challenge.  We walked around Michigan State University’s campus on a busy and warm spring day.  It was just before college graduation so campus was filled with grads also wanting pictures at these iconic locations around campus.  A little of line standing gave me the chance to talk with Claire and Robert more about their upcoming special day in November 2016.  I had a blast laughing with these two and you can tell from their session how much fun they have with each other.  Here are my favorites from their session:

Claire + Robert // MSU Alumni Chapel Wedding

Dating:  December 18, 2012 // Engaged:  December 19, 2015 // Wedding:  November 11, 2016

Claire // Hometown: Lansing, Michigan | Favorite Restaurant:  “I Don’t Know”

Claire Described By Robert:  Claire is a kind person who has a great sense of humor, good taste and a beautiful smile. She also enjoys cats and nerdy things like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Pokemon.

Robert // Hometown:  Lansing, Michigan |  Favorite Restaurant:  Ned’s Pizza in Ithaca, NY

Robert Described By Claire:  Robert is the kind of person you want on your team. He is extremely understanding about my lupus, and I know he would do anything for me. He loves working on cars and watching Law and Order. He is my scruffy looking nerf herder with a secret soft side.

Short story: we met at Rick’s over tequila shots. Longer story: Claire went out to Rick’s with her friend Christina after work. Christina was also friends with Robert, and convinced him to come meet up with them that night. After barely talking to Claire, Robert decided he “wanted the tall one” and asked Christina to give Claire his number, which she did. He proceeded to ask her out to dinner at No Thai.

For our 3 year anniversary trip, we went to Ithaca, NY. Claire had a feeling that during the trip Robert was going to propose. One of the days we were there, we went on a walk up this gorge with all these beautiful waterfalls. At one point during the walk, Robert asked Claire to stop and put his hand in his pocket… to pull out his phone to take a picture. After the walk, he asked her to dress up nice for a romantic dinner, complete with dessert, and he still didn’t propose. After dinner we walked out to the end of a dock on Cayuga Lake, and you guessed it, still didn’t propose. On the way back to the car, we passed a spot along the path where there were dedication bricks. Robert then pointed out a specific brick, on which he had engraved “Will you marry me?” and then he presented Claire with her grandmother’s ring.

These two are the most adorable, sweet couple that I have met! Not only chatting with them at a coffee shop during their bridal consultation but during their engagement session – their love is real and so genuine. And it really has been an honor spending time with them. I’m so thankful they have trusted me with their precious wedding memories. I can’t wait for their October 2016 wedding. here are a few of my favorites from their session:

Alex + Alisha // Grand Ledge, Michigan Wedding

Began Dating:  January 10, 2013  // Engaged:  January 28, 2016  // Wedding:  October 15, 2016

Alisha // Hometown:  Swartz Creek, MI  |  Favorite Restaurant:  Nick’s Hometown Grill

Bride Described By Alex:  She is shy at first but once you get to know her, no one could be a greater person. She is a kind soul who is always ready to have fun and try new things. She always makes me laugh, and is the best friend anyone could have. She is always there for me and her friends. She is smart, loving, funny, and adventurous.

Alex // Hometown:  Mulliken, MI | Favorite Restaurant:  Chili’s Bar & Grill

Groom Described By Bride:  He is so sweet, forgiving and patient. Every day and every action amazes me how kind and generous he can be not only to me, but others too. He has a big heart and loves to laugh. He is able to get through situations when things are going wrong and joke about them later. He is silly, goofy and cheesy. I love him for all of it.

We met at orientation for Kettering University when we both transferred there. He was a talkative guy showing off his movie collections. She was quiet and reserved staying towards the back of the group. Being in a small group of transfer students we stuck together and became good friends

The day Alex asked Alisha’s parents for their blessing, he employed the help of her best friend to trick her into going up to Kettering University where they met. He was standing under a tree on campus in the snow when she saw him. He got down on one knee and asked her with the ring. Of course she said yes.

An early morning sunrise on a beautiful spring day was perfect for Sophia and Kirk’s engagement session.  We met at Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge and had the opportunity to capture their images in both the park and on the Ledges along the Grand River.  This location is perfect because every time I visit here, I find new spots that make great backdrops for photo sessions, especially engagement and wedding photography.  Since our session began at 9 a.m., we pretty much had the park to ourselves which was perfect because on beautiful days in Michigan, this is definitely a tourist spot and the Ledges will be flooded with walkers, hikers, and photography lovers.  Spending time with Sophia and Kirk was so much fun and watching their adoration for each other is heart warming.  I can’t wait to be a part of their special day in October!
